The University of Wisconsin Foundation is seeking a bright, creative, energetic, experienced professional to plan and execute the major gifts development program for the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This position is part of a team of three Directors who work in close collaboration to achieve the program’s goals. The successful candidate will possess a combination of talent, passion and commitment to help assure the College of Engineering’s preeminence through developing philanthropic support for our outstanding faculty, students and curriculum.
The UW Foundation is a private non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging philanthropy on behalf of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Directors of Development are employed by the UW Foundation, but work closely with the College of Engineering dean and faculty to advance private support for the College. The College of Engineering is the University’s second largest academic unit, with approximately 4,600 students, 36,000 alumni and 180 faculty members.  | Primary Responsibilities | |
- Prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation, with emphasis on major gifts
- Facilitate interaction among deans and faculty to develop proposals and information about gift opportunities for prospective donors
- Coordinate and work with volunteers
- Collaborate with UW Foundation colleagues to create strategies for shared prospects
- Other major gifts development activities as assigned by the Foundation

 | Qualifications & Experience | |
- Minimum of a bachelor degree
- Experience in major gifts development or other relevant activities
- Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills
- Self-directed, team player who has a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
- Ability to work effectively with University officials, faculty and prominent alumni
- Ability to meet travel requirements (approx. 25%)
