 | Madison, WI-- The University of Wisconsin Foundation, the gift-receiving organization for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has won a 2006 CASE-WealthEngine Award for Educational Fund Raising.
The UW Foundation was selected for an Overall Performance award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education based on analysis of three years of fundraising data.
Out of 504 colleges and universities considered, 44 fundraising organizations for higher education institutions won an award. The UW Foundation was one of seven public research-doctoral institutions honored.
“The top reason for our success is that we are blessed with a magnificent institution, one cherished by generous alumni and friends, and supported by the diligent efforts of the UW-Madison community and the UW Foundation staff,” said UW Foundation President Sandy Wilcox.
“While we carefully consider our work and undertake planning activities, we believe our success isn’t linked to the development and installation of a strategic plan,” he said.
“While we thoughtfully train our staff, our success is not because our team is somehow exceedingly clever or skillful in ‘convincing’ people to give,” Wilcox said. “And while we like to believe that we work hard at our craft, we believe any success we have had is not because of what we have done.
“We contend that our success resides in the affection and belief of loyal alumni and friends who are committed to keeping the University of Wisconsin-Madison among the world’s leading teaching, research and public service institutions,” he said.
The UW Foundation is currently undertaking Create the Future: The Wisconsin Campaign, which wraps up in October. The campaign long ago passed its $1.5 billion goal and has raised more than $1.7 billion in support of the UW-Madison. |
