The primary reason we decided to start a scholarship was the gratitude we felt toward those who provided funding for the scholarships we earned while in medical school. We wanted to start something that would grow as our careers grew.

Athletic Facilities

The Athletic Department has recently concluded a facility master planning process. The following projects–which must all be funded by private gifts–were identified as priorities for the next 10 years.

Hockey Facility- $35,000,000

Proposed Construction Date: 2010
This project calls for the construction of an on-campus practice facility for the men’s hockey program and an on-campus competition facility for women’s hockey.

Athletic Performance Center/McClain Remodel- $55,000,000

Proposed Construction Date: 2010
This project includes the construction of a multi-purpose facility to provide academic, sports medicine and strength and conditioning support services. Expanded team locker rooms and meeting space area also part of the plans. The current support facilities do not accommodate the needs of Wisconsin’s 850 student-athletes.

Outdoor Tennis Stadium- $4,000,000

Proposed Construction Date: TBD
Plans call for the construction of additional outdoor tennis courts in an effort to better serve our men’s and women’s tennis teams as well as host conference and NCAA championships. Plans also include the construction of team locker rooms, meeting rooms and office space. At present, there is no such space available to the UW tennis teams at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Indoor Track- $30,000,000

Proposed Construction Date: TBD
Plans call for the construction of banked indoor track with permanent grandstand seating.

University Ridge Clubhouse Expansion- $3,000,000

Proposed Construction Date: TBD
Plans include the expansion of the current clubhouse and construction of team locker rooms, meeting rooms and office space.

Outdoor Soccer/Track Stadium- $15,000,000

Proposed Construction Date: 2020
The track/soccer stadium must be relocated as a result of the campus master plan. Plans call for the construction of separate stadiums for track and soccer. This project will include the construction of one multipurpose building to serve four intercollegiate varsity teams – men’s and women’s track and field and men’s and women’s soccer – and to provide permanent grandstand seating. The building will house locker facilities, training room, meeting room, player's lounge, press box, concession area and restrooms.
