I really believe in the Wisconsin Idea, and I have seen young men and women expand their horizons intellectually and socially. I think it’s incumbent upon the alumni in a sense to protect the investment they have made in money, time and experience at Wisconsin.

Intercollegiate Athletic Scholarships

Wisconsin provides full or partial scholarships to approximately 350 student-athletes at a total cost of about $8.5 million annually. Wisconsin fully funds the NCAA allowable number of scholarships in each of our sports.

Scholarships for student-athletes in the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics are presently funded through annual contributions to the Badger Fund, the Athletic Department’s general scholarship fund, as well as the income available from endowed athletic scholarships. Our current endowments provide the Division with approximately $1,000,000 in available income per year, representing our strongest assurance for a permanent and predictable income source in this critically important area. Increasing the athletic endowment will play an important role in reducing future demands on annual support to fund scholarships.
