We were moved by the reality that these very bright, very qualified young people were perhaps being denied an education through a lack of funds. If anything, we need to provide young people a pathway up so they can make their way in the world. Jean Manchester Biddick (’48 BS SOHE), member of the Women’s Philanthropy Council |
| The University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), serves people in Wisconsin and beyond by addressing problems and promoting opportunities in the areas of agriculture, life sciences, natural resources and social science. CALS will remain true to its roots by carrying out three distinct, yet closely integrated functions: undergraduate instruction, research and graduate student training, and outreach and extension.
The CALS Forward Fund helps the College and Dean Moll Jahn achieve these missions by addressing the highest priorities of the College that are not funded through traditional sources.
These priorities are: |
- Graduate student support for fellowships and research assistantships,
- Faculty recruitment and retention, and
- Program support for issues pertaining to food, energy, health and the environment.
 | | One instance of the CALS Forward Fund at work is a dollar-for-dollar match currently under way for gifts to support the Wisconsin Rural Youth Scholarship. |
