The idea of connecting with current students has always been a motivating factor for me when it comes to donating. One of the most gratifying benefits of endowing an instrument in the UW Band is that I've been able to follow my students through their collegiate careers.

Interdisciplinary Research Complex

UW researchers anticipate a vibrant new research culture to be created with the Interdisciplinary Research Complex (IRC), the final and most ambitious component of the HealthStar plan.

Located adjacent to the UW Hospital and Clinics, the Waisman Center, the School of Pharmacy, the HSLC and the under-construction American Family Children’s Hospital, the IRC will bring human and technological resources close to outstanding patient care services and vital teaching facilities. The IRC will focus on:


Cancer Imaging science Cardiovascular research Neuroscience Stem cell and regenerative medicine Molecular medicine Surgery Other cutting-edge basic and applied biomedical research programs


Researchers from a wide range of backgrounds will work together to study the underlying mechanisms of disease, identify potential treatments and cures, and quickly move the most promising new techniques into the clinic to benefit patients. The IRC will firmly establish the UW-Madison among the top echelon of biomedical research enterprises.
