A Message from Dean Jeanette Roberts | Since the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy was founded 125 years ago, alumni and friends have established a tradition of philanthropy that has helped set us apart from other pharmacy schools in the nation.
Many of these gifts have helped to establish the School’s permanent endowment, giving us the beginning of a reliable financial foundation on which to build our future. The stories in this booklet provide examples of how such gifts are making a lasting impact on the people and programs — the human infrastructure — which are key to the School’s accomplishments.
Our success into the future will be defined by our ability to compete with our peer institutions. A growing endowment will help us continue to attract and retain the best students and faculty. It will keep the doors of a pharmacy education open to students from all socio-economic backgrounds. It will also allow us to find creative ways to meet our students’ and faculty’s changing academic and professional needs.
We have some catching-up to do. The UW School of Pharmacy’s endowment level ranks in the bottom half of endowments currently held by our peer institutions. Growing our endowment will give us the resources needed to maintain the School's leadership role in pharmacy education, research, outreach and practice and guarantee an outstanding education to 21st-century students.
To propel us towards this bright future, we are pleased to announce the School of Pharmacy’s People and Programs Campaign. Our goal is to raise $18 million in outright and planned gifts by December 31, 2009 to build the School’s permanent endowment to support our most valuable resources — students, staff and faculty.
I am delighted to report that since the School quietly started this campaign in 2004, $14 million has already been raised through lead gifts from alumni and friends. |

 | | A strong tradition of giving has helped bring our great school to its milestone 125th anniversary, and the momentum is building for an even brighter future. With $4 million left to reach our $18 million goal, every single gift — large and small — will have a lasting impact. I invite you to invest in the future by adding your support to the People and Programs Campaign. |
