We’re interested in everything the Waisman Center does. We also believe that we should give back to our alma mater. William Willis (’50 BA L&S, ’52 LLB LAW), married to Doris (’50 BS L&S) |
| The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine is dedicated to providing excellent programs in veterinary medicine education, research and service that enhance the health and welfare of animals and people and contribute to the economic well-being of the state of Wisconsin.
The UW School of Veterinary Medicine is a nationally recognized leader in translational research. As part of one of the leading research universities in the world and sharing the same campus with a major medical school, a university hospital, and an outstanding College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the School is practicing "one medicine" that will benefit animals and humans alike.
The School is training tomorrow's Wisconsin veterinarians today. As the only School of Veterinary Medicine in the state, we have graduated 1,600 veterinarians since the first graduating class in 1987. A majority of our graduates remain in Wisconsin ensuring that the state’s livestock, wildlife and pets receive expert care. |

 | Current facilities can no longer accommodate the increased number of clinical specialists and sophisticated medical equipment necessary for today’s life-saving practice and research. The School is launching the most significant undertaking in its 24-year history—a major capital campaign.
Through a careful and comprehensive needs assessment and strategic planning process, we developed a vision for the future that will position the School to succeed in its mission to "advance human and animal health with science and compassion." This plan involved a major expansion of the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital, a new research complex, an expanded scholarship endowment, endowed laboratories and the addition of endowed named chairs. |
