We’re interested in everything the Waisman Center does. We also believe that we should give back to our alma mater.

A Grateful Grad Extends a Helping Hand

Donald Baldovin ('57 BS Chem Engr), knows well the financial benefits of a scholarship. As a recipient of a Knapp scholarship for four years in addition to a freshman tuition scholarship, Don wanted to provide similar opportunities for deserving students to attend the UW-Madison. He has created two new scholarships to benefit UW undergraduate students.

To honor his parents, Angelo and Rose Baldovin, he established the Angelo and Rose Baldovin Scholarship. The University will award this scholarship to a freshman student in any discipline. Angelo died in 1967 and Rose is a resident of Hurley, Wisconsin.

The second scholarship, the Donald E. Baldovin Scholarship, will be awarded by the College of Engineering to a freshman student who intends to major in chemical engineering. Both scholarships will be awarded based on merit, academic achievement, need and performance in high school. Each scholarship is renewable to the same individual for a total of four years; if not renewed, it will revert back to a freshman student.

Following a 41-year career with Amoco Corporation at various locations throughout the world--Chicago, New York, London, Tehran, Denver and Houston--Don Baldovin retired in 1998 as vice president, finance and business support, Worldwide Exploration Business Group. He resides in Austin, Texas and Denver, Colorado and is a member of the UW Alumni Clubs in both cities.
